When you think about success, you tend to think that only talented people will be ahead of the game. But new study from Stanford University might challenge your views.

Psychologist Carol Dweck has done a big research on attitude and her latest findings show that your attitude, and not IQ, determines whether you will be successful or not.

Dweck states that people's attitudes can be divided into two categories: a fixed mindset and a growth mindset.

People with fixed mindset don't think they can change or learn. They think that they are born with certain abilities that can't be fixed. It creates a big problems for them when they face some challenging situations.

People with growth mindset know that they can become better and are capable of learning anything if they try harder and work every day. They achieve more results than those with a fixed mindset, even if they have a lower IQ, because they are not afraid of challenges, looking at them as at the lessons that can be beneficial to their life.

Successful people are those who know how to get back up after failure, states Dweck. People with growth mindset treat failure as a temporary problem that can be solved. And they believe that they can solve any problem. Failure is just a sign that certain approach didn't work.

It's important to be honest with yourself and admit what kind of mindset you really have. If you have fixed mindset, just follow some strategies described below to change it to growth mindset. Perhaps it is the reason why you you have some problems in your life or keep failing at something.

Don't remain powerless. We all have situations in life when we feel like we lose power over our lives. These can be the moments when we fail at something over and over again. But you reaction or your attitude towards such moments will determine who you really are, a person with a growth mindset or with a fixed mindset. People with growth mindset know that failures do not define them and that in order to have a big success, they need to have some big failure and get back up. There are so many successful people who had moments of powerlessness but it didn't stop them. No big success comes as a straight line and it's not achieved overnight. Usually there are a lot of obstacles and a lot of yers of hard work. Even if you don't fail at anything or don't get rejected, you can fail at getting up every morning and doing the work. But it's what you do after such failures that will determine whether you will achieve success or not. But even if you had a fixed mindset till now, it's never too late to change it and achieve everything you deserve.

Be enthusiastic. Find the things that you have big enthusiasm for. Because only then will you be able to work harder than anyone else. Some people may be more talented than you are but no one can beat a person who is passionate about what he is doing. Enthusiasm and passion are the things that make any product excellent. Don't think about money or social status when choosing your passion. Because when you will work with a real passion, all these things will come as a result of doing the work that you really love. Only then you will be able to work very hard and out-beat your competition.

Be active. People with growth mindset are not perfect people who have no anxiety and fears. They do have them all but they know that the only way to overcome them is to remain active and do something every day to move forward. Growth mindset makes you empowered and empowered people don't have perfectionism. Perfectionist never achieve big results because they always wait for a perfect moment. Empowered people know that such moment doesn't exist and the only way to achieve any result is to move. It doesn't matter how ugly, imperfect, or slow your actions are going to be. The most important thing is to be active all the time.

Do something extra. Empowered people do everything they can and sometimes what they can't as well. They always try to push themselves and do something extra than they usually do. Their biggest competitor is the one they were yesterday, so they always try to improve. Otherwise they will be stuck in one place and not move forward and as a result not achieve big results. But if you always try to go an extra mile, you will always be growing and your results will grow as well, and I am not even talking about how proud and happy you are going to be.

Results. People with growth mindset like to measure their success with results. They expect to fail from time to time but they also expect to see some results.

Learn how to adjust. People with growth mindset are ready for any changes to happen and ready to adjust quickly. They use such opportunities to learn something instead of letting it determine who they are. They learn the lesson and then move on.

Don't complain. Complaining takes away your energy and makes you focus on the negative things only. It's a trait of people with fixed mindset. People with growth mindset never complain because they see an opportunity in every situation.
